External File Wizard

This wizard helps you to get access to Magik files which are not present in your workspace but contain important code indispensable for your work. When accessing external files with the wizard you can decide whether you want to simply open them or you want to open and associate them with a Magik project for further use.

Wizard is not shown when Open external source files without asking for associating them option from General preferences is off.

External File Wizard

Options:

Option Description
Change project Displays Magik Project dialog which allows you to change wizard target project. Use it if you want to associate selected resource with another Magik project.
Open file Allows you to open selected file as external file without associating or linking it with any Magik project.
Add product ... to project dependencies Allows you to add Magik product, which contains selected file, to Magik project dependencies. Option name presents product name which will be added and target Magik project is shown above the options.

Option name may not be available in case the file is not contained by a product.
Add module ... to project dependencies Allows you to add Magik module, which contains selected file, to Magik project dependencies. Option name presents module name which will be added and target Magik project is shown above the options.

Option name may not be available in case the file is not contained by a module.
Link resource ... Allows you to link selected file to any project available in a workspace.

Next wizard steps depends on selected option.

Open file

No further steps are available. Press Finish to open file.

Add product ...

The following wizard dialog presents directory structure starting from a disk drive finishing on the selected file. Desired product folder is selected. Press Finish to add product to project dependencies.

Add module ...

The following wizard dialog presents directory structure starting from a disk drive finishing on the selected file. Desired module folder is selected. Press Finish to add module to project dependencies.

Link resource ...

The following wizard dialog presents directory structure starting from a disk drive finishing on the selected file. Select the file or any of the parent folders to link it to the target Magik project. Press Finish to link selected element or press Next to open the following page.

The following wizard page allows you to specify target container for linked element selected in previous page. This may be primary or any available Magik project or any of their folders as well. Press Finish to link element to selected container.
