From 28th September to 2nd October in Hollywood, Florida/USA took place Smallworld™ Americas Users Conference 2008. At this conference ASTEC presented the services in Smallworld™ technology and the newest Version of MDT Professional Edition 1.0.0 M3 with integrated debugger (this version will be soon published). Many thanks to conference participants for visiting our booth and for interest in our offer. We also would like to thank you for many valuable hints and remarks, all of them will be taken into consideration at the works on next MDT versions.

The release of Magik Development Tools 1.0.0 Professional Edition Milestone 2 is now available for immediate download and installation. Along with Milestone 2 previous Milestone 1 release is also available.

The most interesting enhancements of the releases are:

• new efficient ANTLR 3.0 based Magik parser which recognizes and presents in the environment Magik files syntax problems

• EMF (Eclipse Modeling Framework) based meta-model of Smallworld™ GIS platform and Magik language elements which virtualizes Magik project resources and will be a base for other splendid features such as: indexing and refactoring Magik code, modelling Magik code with UML etc

• many facilitations in GIS sessions configuration management connected with enhanced validation mechanism

• facilitations in load list handling connected with enhanced validation mechanism

• possibility to compare two Magik code elements e.g two methods

• support for Smallworld™ GIS 4.1.1

On 11th June the live demonstration of MDT took place in the GE Energy office in Cambridge/UK. The presentation met with great interest from GE Energy representatives. GE Energy and ASTEC are going to work together closely for further development of MDT.
