ASTEC announces that the MDT 1.0.0 Professional Edition Release Candidate 1 is now available for immediate download and installation. The release introduces significant improvements in Magik debugger and Magik project resources handling. The most important features included in MDT 1.0.0 Professional Edition RC1: - "Step Into" command in Magik debugger,
- setting breakpoints on Project Dependency files,
- changing value of variables during debugging process,
- searching Magik project local resources in Magik Search,
- access to code elements coming from local resources in Magik editor Code Assist.

ASTEC performed installation of the MDT at customer site. Implementation of the new alternate development environment took place at NIS AG company in Luzern, Switzerland.
The implementation of MDT had gone ahead in 5 steps:
- Installation
- Configuration
- Introduction Workshop for Development Team
- Testing in two productive projects
- Training
After these steps, the first project team in NIS AG was ready to implement new Smallworld™ projects using MDT, this approach is in accordance with their philosophy of using innovative technology and moving with industry standards. MDT is planned to be used in all projects at NIS AG company before summer 2009. NIS AG is a Swiss company formed through the partnership of seven regional energy supply companies. The founding principle of NIS AG is to realise synergies and long term benefits for owner companies and other clients by developing Network Information Systems based on industry standard software. |

This year's EMEAI Conference was held on March 4th-6th at the Hilton Sorrento Palace in Italy. During conference we celebrated 20 anniversary of Smallworld™ technology! We also found out how Smallworld™ technology has helped improve industry practices over the last 20 years and what are the plans for future. At this conference ASTEC presented the services in Smallworld™ technology and the newest version of MDT Professional Edition 1.0.0 M4.
